This writing activity can be one week or one month long. To keep the writing all month long I recommend the 1st week having the students write the sentences with the words in them, the 2nd week have the students use the scaffolded sentences and figure out from key Math words what the vocabulary terms are, and then weeks 3 & 4 have the students write their own sentences with the Math vocabulary terms. Learning how to WRITE the Math is one strategy for becoming a more fluent and successful Mathematician. Practicing this skill is important and I have a bundle for the whole year if you would like to get your students writing more Math! Click HERE to view and download the Year-Long Bundle!
Happy Teaching!
