There are many ways to do math test prep review in the classroom. I've compiled a list of resources that are ready to use now. By doing at least one actionable strategy of math test prep you can improve your students' scores by 10%. Choose the best one for your kids now.

Teaching Percents Decimals Fractions

Are you teaching percents, decimals, and fractions in 6th grade or 7th grade?

Need a math resource for teaching percents decimals and fractions?

Teaching math concepts from start to mastery can prove difficult. Making a plan, using different types of resources, and helping all students reach mastery is the goal. Teaching percents without teaching fractions and decimals like eating a jelly sandwich without the peanut butter. These skills go together and can be taught in a variety of ways to reach all types of learners.

Elsa and Anna go together. Fractions, decimals, and percents go together. Teaching them together can be mastered when the relationships between the three are acknowledge in a conceptual way.

1. Percents Card Sort

6th Grade Percents Card Sort Activity is intended to help you assess how well students are able to understand how to use ratio and rate reasoning to solve percents in real-world and mathematical problems. 

7th Grade Percents Card Sort Lesson is intended to help you assess how well students are able to understand that rewriting an expression in different forms in a problem context, solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems with rational numbers, and use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems.

2. Percents Math Stations

Math stations provide small tasks for students to do during a class period. Students can rotate and move from station to station in 10-15 minute intervals. This allows for 4-6 tasks to be completed within 45-60 minute class periods. Teaching percents with vocabulary, practice, applications, word problems, and real world connections. 3.  Percents Math Activities for Interactive Notebooks

Using activities in an interactive math notebook can engage students in a different way. Students will take ownership of the activities and construct their own learning. Percents activities for 6th grade with vocabulary practice, finding a Percent of a Number activity, finding the Sale Price, and finding the Original Price before a Sale are included. Percent activities for 7th grade include vocabulary practice, finding the part, whole, or Percent, Finding Sales tax and Discounts, and Finding Simple Interest activity.

4.  Percents Math Notes 

Teach students how to solve percents, decimals, and fractions with note taking. Take a scaffolded approach to teaching this math skill. Use the completed notes, scaffolded, or have students write their own. Differentiate to meet the needs of your students and teach percents in a meaningful way. Need Thanksgiving Classroom Ideas?

Planning a Thanksgiving Math Activity?

There are great ideas for Thanksgiving classroom parties. It doesn’t have to be an elaborate party or project. Students are content and happy with a small Thanksgiving activity. Here are some tips for having a successful Thanksgiving party in your classroom. Try one or all of these tips and your students will have a great time in your classroom this year!

 Try an activity with food or with paper food.

1. Limit Food Consumption. 

Depending on your school policy for Thanksgiving and other holidays, error on the side of less is more. Students will want to have food, pie, and share in this wonderful friendly holiday tradition. In preparation have a small food related activity for students to celebrate success or good behavior (if school policy allows it). An alternative to food is a free homework pass. It's a sugar free reward system that students will find value in. 

Talk about Thanksgiving Meal Costs.

2. Place Book Bags in Front of Room. 

Keeping book bags in the front of the classroom allows for less distractions. Students are less tempted to get in their bag for more items. Your classroom will have less behavior problems, less time talking about the book bags and other items, and more time focused on learning.

Review math skills with Thanksgiving Coloring activities and games.

3. Plan a Thanksgiving Math or Black Friday Activity. 

Your entire lesson plan does not have to be Thanksgiving based, but if you acknowledge the day with a short activity, your students might be more engaged. Creating an environment to celebrate and acknowledge fun holidays is always helpful in developing rapport with your students. Would having a Black Friday Math activity in class be helpful in building relationships with students? Do your students like to color math or play a game? Try a new Thanksgiving activity with them this year.

Summer Math Coloring

Math Stations (also called Math Workshops) is a system of different types of activities in the classroom for the students to complete based on the same topic.
